Oscars 2019 Ratings Rise From Last Year to 29.6 Million Viewers
The ratings for the 2019 Oscars telecast are up slightly from last year.
In the time zone adjusted fast national ratings, the awards show drew a 7.7 rating in adults 18-49 and 29.6 million viewers on Sunday. That is up from a 6.8 rating and 26.5 million in 2018. That is an increase of approximately 12% in total viewers and 13% in the key demo. And while that is up from last year’s historic low, this year was the second smallest audience ever for an Academy Awards telecast.
“Congratulations to our friend and client Glenn Weiss on Producing and Directing the 2019 Academy Awards for ABC. 12% Ratings increase!!”
The Weeklings & The Tearaways: Keeping Rock Alive
There are a number of bands that keep the flame of straight-ahead rock and roll burning brightly. Two of the best are The Weeklings and The Tearaways. Both groups embody the spirit of the sounds of the 1960s and 1970s, while still giving their music a fresh and contemporary spin. The Weeklings features veteran rockers Glen Burtnik, Bob Burger, John Merjave and Joe Bellia. The New Jersey-based band performs the songs of The Beatles, as well as crafting their own power-pop infused originals like “Love Can,” and “Stop Your Running Around.” These songs can found on their excellent 2016 album Studio 2. The disc was named for (and produced at) the revered Abbey Road location where The Beatles created much of their iconic music.

BWW Review: MAME at North Shore Music Theatre
JUNE 7, 2018
The classic Musical "Mame" opened the 2018 season last night at NSMT. The Musical by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee, with Lyrics by Jerry Herman, and based on the book by Patrick Dennis, is a 1966 Musical Theatre warhorse that has starred such luminaries as, Rosalind Russell, Angela Landsbury, and even Lucille Ball, in the ill-fated 1970's movie. I have seen seven productions of Mame at theatres all over the US over the last 30 years and in each production, Mame was portrayed by a matronly actress in the twilight of her career. It was incredibly refreshing to see the role played by a Broadway veteran in the prime of... (Read More)

Don’t you dare brand #MeToo as hysteria and hypocrisy, Polanski – you’re a sickening child rapist who should be behind bars, not a camera
Yes, Roman Polanski, a fugitive child rapist, genuinely believes the global movement to expose sexual predators exactly like him is just a load of silly, overblown nonsense.
I wondered if he'd been misquoted, or misleadingly paraphrased.
